Dear June,
I was gratified to see that an
apology to the former Citizens’ Association officers was forthcoming in the
latest bulletin. However, the remark
that was inserted indicating you did not believe that there was any such disparagement
on your part essentially obviated the apology.
It was evidently the judgment by
those who voted in favor of the apology being necessary that there were
implications of impropriety in what you wrote.
It would be gracious to acknowledge that your letter did in fact convey
that, and that while you may not have intended it you now understand that to be
the case. Certainly I read what you
wrote that way and so did most of those who did.
If you truly wish to create a
better sense of harmony, please try to learn from the past and acknowledge the
error rather than claiming there was none in the first place.
